Empathy In Action
In the past 50 years American society and the entire world have gone through / undergone drastic changes. During this shift of events, (some slow creep, some cataclysmic,) we slipped away from practicing connection with others. Many mental health woes are directly tied to lack of healthy, meaningful friendships. (Although offering benefit in severe cases) Pharmaceuticals can not fill the void entirely. Although pharmaceuticals can offer benefit in some severe cases, this is not a solution to fill the void entirely. Nor will telehealth and artificial intelligence be a panacea to fix our craving for connection. Mental health professionals are expensive, burnt out and simply not accessible for all. We have traditional customs and robust scientific knowledge which can guide us toward creating better human interactions and stable communities.
